Wow twenty years!! This will be short and sweet, worked for the town of Magrath for about three years after graduating, had enough of that . It wasn't the same as back in High school, with Mark,Dave,Rich,Michelle. Went to work for Century Vallen were I've been for 17yrs .Throughout the last twenty I've raced Stock cars, raced Dirt bike, four wheel drives, anything that runs on gas. Thats why it took me so long to post here, I couldn't find the spark plugs on my computer. Not married , no kids, that I know of. Can't wait to see everyone in July. Larry

It has always been fun to talk to you. I am glad you finally figured out how to post. Was it you that would go home on break from the town job to watch the smurfs?

hey bort,
good to hear from you. i can't remeber a ton about those years we worked for the town, but i do remember passing you with loads of gravel coming down from the pit, breaks at the coffee shop and standing up that ugly gothic gate at the cemetery. I miss sitting in the office listening to garth's crazy stories, lenny sitting with his legs crossed inches south of his hips sipping his bottle of pop and harry the indian - sometimes. lenny gave me a blender as a wedding gift. He kicks butt. one thing i do recall vividly was your savant-like grasp of the music trivia. who sings "jungle love" again?

o-we-o-we-o jungle love. That is funny. I forgot about Lenny. He told us the story of the "shit house" they had to clean up, I laughed until I cried. Lenny always called me Davey.

Ah Lenny, funny little man, week stomach. I remember down at the fish pond I stepped on a pile of dog crap, then we both jumped in the truck, I was driving,he almost
puked. He was mader than hell that I wouldn,t stop the truck.I remember you had the better gravel
truck than I had, and Trevor Millward used to put grease on the steering wheel and gear shift just
before we took off.

Steve Millar Band.Speaking of music, Michelle, do remember Me,You,and Tia arguing over what was better,Classical music or rock,I won of course. As for watching the smurfs, that had to be Dave or Rich.

I could have sworn you were the Smurf watcher. I think you rightfully won the battle of the music -rock certainly is better. Thankfully I married someone with better music taste than I ever had. Man, those were good times. I have laughed just reading all your memories and Jason's descriptive terms of Leonard.

d'oh, stupid! shouldn't have led with steve miller band. steve miller is for geeks. shoulda done something cool like "6-6-6, the number of the beast...". Dana's right, i'm such a loser.

oddly, i remember wanting your truck. maybe not so odd, it always seems the turck is blue-er on the other side of the fence.

i experienced a paradigm shift working for the town. i mean look at those guys. and they were the shi'ite in my eyes. if they could be all that, maybe there was hope for me, right? I know, flawed logic, but i was kinda dumb that way.

i came back right after garth died. brought my family and the whole nine. thought i owed him at least that much after all he did for me. couldn't talk myself into going anywhere near magrath with him gone. i bet there's a whole psych thesis in that story somewhere.

anyway larry, i have fond memories riding around in the back of that red and white ford with the girls yakin' about music - good times, sigh.

I liked to watch Herculies at lunch break....

Rich, I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. I had forgotten about Hercules. I still think there is someone who watched the Smurfs. Tia and I went to her house alot and watched Overboard about 100 times -"I just...ate...a bug." Did we really get paid to sit out at the cemetary and shoot gophers? Could that really have been true?

How 'bout having to use a propane flamthrower to burn the dump. That was pretty stupid. Giving a couple of teenagers a flamethrower... we should have went on a rampage.

Steve Miller, I had to stop and think. But 666, Motley Crue, that was to easy. The town of Magrath
wont be the same without Garth behind the wheel, at least they named the ice rink after him.I think that every one that worked fot the town, had a hand to hand
experience with the old red& white ford. They probably still use it today. I remember using that flamethrower to burn the grass in the irragation ditches on the edge of town. 16yrs old, running with a 20lb propane tank, 10 ft high flames chasing behind you, a pyromaniac's dream, Ah good times.

It must have been Dave that watched the smurfs, he is being pretty quiet about the subject.

What is "overboard"? I know what bug is, but we didn't eat them.
Shooting gophers at the cemetary, I wish, they new better than that to give me a gun.

Bort! It's great to hear from you. Crazy question.. do you still drive the same car that you did in high school? I thought I seen it driving around in Lethbridge a few months ago. Anyway can't wait to see you in July.

How come the quietest guy in school has all the comments? Must be a secret side of Larry one a select few got to experience. Glad you posted, see you in July.

Hey Bort, I can't believe I'm talking to you on a computer when we work about 4 blocks apart. Who'd a thunk it, hehe. I talked to Scott last week, he said work is crazy, but when he gets caught up he has some business in Lethbridge. If he makes it here, and has time we should get together over a drink....or 20.

Rich said...

Over Board...Ya know Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russel.....big boat....Goldie Hawn.....Goldie Hawn....Goldie Hawn. Come On Bort....Goldie Hawn!

Rich said...

Ok...Ok...I did watch the Smurfs occasionally, but I'm pretty sure Cupcake and Bort both watched them too!!!

Hi Larry,
Your hobbies sound very exciting! Can't wait to see that car of yours at the reunion. Like Drianne, I thought I saw it one time and it made me smile remembering 20 years ago. Lots of parties, lots of silliness, lots of fun. Patti

I knew it - I knew that someone was a closet smurf watcher. I had forgotten how much fun you guys were. I am way too boring. Time to shake things up a bit.

Where's the pics? Oh, better not say that as I have not even posted anything yet, eh??? Just kidding. It will be great to see you in the summer.. It sounds like you are doing exactly what you want to! Good for you!..

Hey Larry,
How about some photos! Reading these posts, I realize how sheltered and isolated I was out on the farm. It sounds like you guys that worked together for "the town" really got to know each other well and had a pretty good time too. I am a little jealous!
See ya at the reunion!
