Update on Style and Appearance

Apparently Dave is going to dress in formal attire and suggests that the rest of us look like we put "a little effort in!" I am feeling the pressure, Dave, to look like I gave it a college try. Be gentle!

I think if we are all comfortable with how we are dressed is what matters. Can't wait to see you Dave, go for it.

Hey I'm comfortable naked.

I'm not sure that's going to make anyone else comfortable.

I think if you show up looking like you just walked in from mowing the lawn you are gonna be saying something about yourself.

and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I like to dress up and look good, I would imagine most people would want to look good as well.

So the definitive answer would be...

look how you want everyone to remember you. Or like Kent still says

Ahhh... I'm gonna do what I want.

I'll see you suckers Friday. It's going to be cool.

You make me smile - and an occasional laugh, as well.

What a bloody joke! Everybody should just quit pretending to be something they are not, and just be real. As if there isn't enough pressure to have these "perfect" lives as it is.

"Make an effort to look good". I can't believe that a friend, a fellow classmate, another human being would actually even tell someone else those words. Who are we trying to impress? Let's try to be a little more judgemental shall we..

OK

Yikes! Sorry. This was just some friendly bantering. Certainly, come dressed how you like.

Yikes is right...

Well, I didn't mean to open up a can of worms with this. It really was meant as a simple question so I would not feel or look out of place. You know, didn't want to be the only one to show up in a Speedo.

Michelle Dudley said...

You know, Dean, if you show up in a speedo, that would make this reunion even more special. And a good way to pay for dinner.

Unknown said...

OK jeeez... if Dean gets to wear a speedo. I wanna wear one too. How come he always gets to do the fun stuff.

Dean said...

Ok, the Speedo is out! The only way that would pay for dinner is people would want to pay me to leave. Don’t want to make anyone loose there appetite you know. I’m afraid that it would look like a balding brown bear ready for hibernation. Not a pretty picture. Dave, you’re still welcome to go for it and have a little fun.

Okay, honestly, the thought of you both in a speedo is making me laugh out loud. But it is a real possibility that Dave would show up in one just to make a point, so I am also a wee bit afraid. I will, however, enjoy that mental picture on my long drive to Canada.

Okay, you three are having way too much fun with this ;). I agree with Michelle, mind you I'm already here in Magrath. Love the read. Drive safe all of you out there, see you soon. Terri

Dean... I see no down side to what you describe. The bear part is hot. I'm on my way tommorow morning. I'll be checking into my hotel at about 3-4.

I love you people! How lucky am I to have such great(albeit quirky) friends, past and present. Waxing a bit sentimental there, but nonetheless...

Unknown said...

That's very good you are waxing. Dean take notes here. I'm more of a trimmer and a shaver when the need arises. Hah... get it... arises. Zing

Dean said...

Ah, waxing. Yes, very nice. However, I am not into pain so I will have to pass.

I will be holding my own satellite reunion with myself this weekend. I'm super excited to catch up with me. I'm a little nervous to see how I compare to me after all these years.

I will be super shorn and way waxed but by no means trim (I can't help it - I like the boiled goat fat the Afghans eat). I, as per usual, will be wearing my Canadian flag speedo(the maple leaf adds an aire of comical coverage and concealment). As is also the norm, I will be spending the evening with both a can of worms and a bear. And I assure you that I will look good - I don't really have to try(hey, there is no clever little combo of punctuation marks to indicate tounge-in-cheek, how ever will I articulate my sarcasm).

Oh, and as for the pot calling the kettle judgemental; real is as real does - I always say.

Have fun yous guys.

This is great... I'm here at the library in Magrath using the computer... my mom doesn't have one... My kids, marcia and John, and julie hatch are with me and rolling on the floor... the bear part put them over the edge... Marcia immediately asks me if they have met the "bear Man in a speedo"... i told her she would have the opportunity on Saturday... you are all great! And Jas, we'll be thinking of you and talking about ya!! (only good things, mind you!)
"Perfect Lives", none of us have (there are always skeletons and things we don't want anyone to know)- i'm sorry that someone out there feels that bad about having to live up to some ideal.. you don't, just come as you are, leave the past behind and just enjoy getting to know who we all are now.. Life is a journey, and we are all travelling.. Love you all.. Mary - (i don't remember my password, so I have to sign as anonymous...
